Live the story of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners when you play Cyberpunk: Edgerunners – Hunted. Not only does the unique Cyberpunk world come alive in this board game, it is also action-packed and adrenaline-inducing – all within a 25-minute timeframe, which is the length of an episode.
This first look is your introduction to how the overall game plays out and the kinds of pressure you’ll face in Night City. The second blog post explains the Edgerunner and Enemy phases in greater detail. Read it here: How to play Cyberpunk: Edgerunners - Hunted: Understanding the Edgerunner Phase.

Please note this blog post features images with a prototype of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners - Hunted and the final version will differ slightly.

CHOOSE YOUR EDGERUNNER
Lucy, David, Rebecca, and Maine are in Night City ready to run. Each player has their own character board which lists their unique skillset.

If you’re playing with less than 4 people, then one or more players will control 2 Edgerunners.
BUILD THE MAP OF NIGHT CITY
Night City is composed of different Map Tiles and Connectors. Players will build a small map of Night City using 1 Start Map Tile and 4 randomly shuffled Map Tiles before starting the game.
When the game begins, players will add Map Tiles and connector tiles to expand the areas they are running in. Eventually, an Exit Map Tile will be revealed and placed down. This is where all four Edgerunners must reach before the end of the game!

SELECT A MISSION CARD
Mission cards give you a goal that you must work with your crew to complete. Doing it along won’t cut it; you need your crew if you’re making it out of Night City in time!
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners – Hunted has a total of 12 mission cards. If you want to increase the difficulty of your game, you can choose to play 3 mission cards at once. That would really make you a Legend. But for rookies, one is enough of a challenge.
PLAY IN REAL-TIME
As mentioned at the beginning, this game is carried out in only 25 minutes. How will you know how much time is passing by? By using the time track and hourglass! Knowing the clock is ticking against you is what makes every action so meaningful and collaboration so important.

Flipping the hourglass onto the first space on the time track starts the game. When the hourglass is about to run out, flip it on the next space to the right along the Time Track.
PLAY IN TWO PHASES
The game starts in the Edgerunner Phase. This is when all Edgerunners make their move. Among possible actions are moving and exploring the map or attacking a nearby enemy. Since time is ticking, DON'T wait for each person to finish their action - it's best to perform actions simultaneously - but DO communicate your plan!
Once all possible and desired actions are taken, the game moves into the Enemy Phase. This is when enemies will actively move towards the closest Edgerunner, hunting them down. If they reach an Edgerunner, they will attack them causing the hourglass to move one space on the time track (without flipping), costing the crew precious minutes.
Once all enemies on the map have moved, the Edgerunner Phase begins again, alternating with Enemy Phase until the time is up.
HOW TO WIN
There are only two conditions to winning:
- The mission card is successfully completed.
- All four Edgerunners are on the Exit Map Tile.

NEVER DO THE SAME RUN TWICE
The story in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners could have gone many different ways. The same goes for each playthrough of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners – Hunted. What if you faced the enemy head on instead of evading them? What if David carried Lucy to a safe point on the map? You can try again and again with different choices or even the same ones and end with different outcomes, because the map of Night City changes every time.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners – Hunted is available to pre-order now: pre-order the board game. The game is expected to arrive in stores in September 2026 and will be available in English, French, Spanish, German, and Polish, with more languages in the works!
