Gwent at Gen Con 2025: Highlights, Tournament, and What's Next

Nearly 72,000 gaming fans and one Gwent booth. Good thing Roach was there to help guide the way!

From the moment doors opened on Thursday, we were blown away by the energy and enthusiasm for Gwent: The Legendary Card Game. Whether you came to the booth to try your hand at a Plinko-style “toss your coin to your witcher” or to try your hand at a real, physical game of Gwent, we’re grateful you made us part of your Gen Con adventure.

A huge thank-you to our US distribution partner, Hachette Boardgames USA, for their outstanding support at Gen Con. It’s only with their passion, expertise, and determination that Roach accepted to stay on the booth rooftop for all four days of Gen Con. They were instrumental in leading Gwent Learn to Play events and Gwent Pub Nights every day. We truly appreciate their partnership in creating a welcoming space for new and veteran Gwent players alike.

Gen Con Gwent Tournament

We loved seeing Gwent fans from all over come together for our first North American Gwent tournament at Gen Con. With 20 participants battling it out in single-elimination brackets, each player was randomly assigned a different faction every game. To win, players needed to prove Gwent mastery by winning with multiple faction decks.

Thursday’s bracket wrapped with “Aladdin” securing the win, earning a free copy of Gwent: The Legendary Card Game and a 5-foil card booster pack.

On Friday, Noranx emerged victorious in his bracket, bringing home a free copy of Gwent: The Legendary Card Game and a 5-foil card booster pack.

Though Aladdin got lost exploring whole new worlds and wasn’t able to attend the tournament finale on Saturday, Noranx competed against Gwent expert Duncan. They played best two of three Gwent games with randomly assigned factions. Ultimately, Noranx was the clear winner, having won the first game and the second.

As the final winner of the Gen Con 2025 Gwent tournament, Noranx won the tournament-exclusive 2-player neoprene playmat in original wood print and a goodie bag with 4 acrylic gems and metal coin to upgrade the existing tokens in the game box.

Thank you to everyone who played, watched, and cheered!

If you’re looking forward to more Gwent tournaments, make sure to add your pin to our Gwent Community Map. As we grow our Gwent community, we hope to organize more tournaments worldwide. This map is intended to help connect players and shops within their local gaming community.

Up Next: Gamescom (August 20-24, 2025)

Now that we brought Gwent to North America’s largest tabletop convention, our next move is to go one level up and bring the game to Europe’s biggest gaming event: Gamescom! We’ll be in Cologne, Germany, from August 20-24 among the 370,000 people in attendance.

Come to Hall 5.2 at stand A-034! You'll be able to demo, play, and buy copies of Gwent: The Legendary Card Game (standard edition).

Plus, for the first time ever, you’ll be able to see the Deluxe Edition of Gwent: The Legendary Card Game in person! We are bringing the only sample of the Deluxe Edition with us to Germany for public viewing. It is currently the only one in existence before we determine final production numbers and start making your Deluxe boxes, so don't miss out on this opportunity!

We can't wait to meet even more of the global Gwent community.

Did you take photos, play a match, win a foil card, or bought a copy of the game during Gen Con? Tag us on social media, we would love to see!
